I recognize that people are complex with many integrated parts: physical, emotional, cognitive, interpersonal, spiritual, and occupational.

I am Meg Jelen, MA LMFT. I provide individual counseling and couples counseling to support and empower clients to improve their quality of life! I focus on the promotion of health and overall well-being. The decision to reach out for support can be difficult or even feel vulnerable. I have been described as warm, friendly, and approachable with an energetic optimism that many find uplifting and encouraging.

RATHER THAN FOCUS ON PATHOLOGY AND ILLNESS, I SEE CLIENTS AS RESILIENT, FACED WITH GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES.

You have made it far in life, so I know you are already strong and skilled. Sometimes it can be difficult to see that part of ourselves; we might lose sight of our abilities or be blinded by the stressors we face. Or perhaps the skills and abilities that carried us through past challenges are not supporting us through our current circumstances. Through counseling or coaching, we will work together to strengthen your internal resources and develop strategies to elevate your skills.

This is your opportunity.

  • My educational background is in the discipline of Marriage and Family Therapy. Fundamental to this discipline is the understanding that every person is part of many systems.

Families, social circles, work teams, communities, and nature, these systems all impact a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This is the foundation for my clinical approach and understanding.

I recognize that people are complex with many integrated parts: physical, emotional, cognitive, interpersonal, spiritual, and occupational.

My practice philosophy is holistic, considering each of these integrated parts of a person.

My framework applies concepts from Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Environmental Psychology, and a multi-dimensional model of wellness.

Depending on the unique needs of each client, I use clinical assessment skills to determine evidence-based interventions that will support each individual’s needs.

This could include the following approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, relaxation training, or other healthy coping skill development.

  • I earned my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University- Minnesota. I hold licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, in the state of Wisconsin.

I maintain regular clinical supervision with a team of peers and engage in professional development opportunities to maintain competency, ensure quality work, and promote continued growth.

Personally and professionally I have witnessed the connection between our physical health and mental health. Over time I grew increasingly interested in health psychology.

To pursue greater knowledge on ways to promote overall well-being, I completed the Mayo Clinic Health and Wellness Coaching Training Program.

  • I have over a decade of experience in the mental health field. Throughout that time I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings providing therapeutic services in various formats: individual, couple/family, milieu, and group. I worked with adults, adolescents, couples, and families focusing on a variety of goals ranging from wellness promotion to symptom reduction.

I have experience working with individuals on their career goals; improving work-related issues, interests in pursuing new opportunities, and professional growth.

I have a background working in leadership roles for several organizations and I am experienced as a consultant with an Employee Assistance Program. Through these experiences, I have supported business leaders in efforts to improve employee performance, satisfaction, and effectiveness with teams.

I have a talent for public speaking and enjoy engaging audiences. I provide trainings, workshops, and retreats for groups of any size. My approach is to educate and engage participants in the topic of interest, with a goal of providing actionable content.

Services to support Whole Person Health

Currently, counseling and coaching services are offered over the phone, by video visit with a secure telehealth platform, or in-person at GreenHouse Holistic Co-op. Group training can be offered virtually or in-person following recommended public health precautions.

A free 20-minute consultation is the first step; this will help us determine which service is right for you!

Additional Details About Services

  • Prior to entering into a service, we will have a free 20-minute consultation.

During this time I would like to hear some basic information about you, the general nature of your concern, or goals in reaching out. I will make a recommendation for services and briefly share information about the service process. At that time you will have the option of either scheduling our first session or taking some time to think it through.

It is so important to choose a provider who is the right fit for you!

I am happy to answer any questions you have to assist in decision-making. If it seems there is a different resource that might better support you, I am able to make referrals.

  • How long will services last?

Once we begin working together, we will use our time in the session to help you actively work toward your goals.

You spend a limited amount of time in sessions and the majority of your time living your life!

In order to make our efforts transferable to your everyday life, we will develop some alternative ways of thinking or acting, skills, or strategies for you to experiment with between sessions.

Our work together will conclude once you have reached your goals and/or your symptoms have resolved.

  • Wonder Well is a private pay practice.

    • This helps keep costs consistent and low for all clients.

    • We are also free to make important decisions about our clients’ treatment because we do not have to meet specific requirements that sometimes accompany collaboration with insurance companies.

    • Because we do not submit billing to insurance, we are able to provide greater confidentiality for our clients.

    Payment Options

We accept payment at the time of service by Venmo, credit cards, and HSAs.

If you would like, we are able to generate a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Wonder Well does not submit any claims or requests on behalf of clients. We cannot guarantee insurance companies will reimburse, but many times outpatient mental health services are covered under out-of-network benefits.
